DABA offers baseball in the Spring and Fall seasons for all ages. The age ranges we offer are below, and are calculated with the age the player will be on April 30th of the upcoming season. **Example: If a player turns 9 on May 1st, they are considered an 8-year-old for the Spring Season.
Costs:T-Ball: $55.00
8 & Under: $75.00
10 & Under: $90.00
12 & Under: $90.00
Colt/Pony: $100.00
**Each family is expected to participate in fundraisers throughout the year and volunteer time at the concession stand to help us keep our registration fees as low as possible.
T-Ball (5 & 6 year olds)
In T-Ball, players are pitched to by a coach until they get 4 strikes, at which point they hit from a tee. This level is intended to teach kids the basics of baseball including proper hitting, throwing and fielding techniques.
8 & Under (7 - 8 year olds)
This level remains coach-pitch, but players are challenged a little more in that they can strike out. This level is heavily instructional, where existing skills learned at the T-Ball age are enhanced. Since this level is instructional, a score is not kept on the scoreboard.
10 & Under (9 - 10 year olds)
At the 10 & Under level, coach pitch is replaced by player pitch. This further challenges the players and helps with their development. We do keep score on the scoreboard at this level. Bunting and stealing bases is allowed at this level.
12 & Under (11 - 12 year olds)
Very similar to the 10 & Under level, though generally the players who have remained in the sport to this age are more advanced.
Pony (13 - 14 year olds)
Colt (15 - 16 year olds)
Roster spots are still available but filling fast. So please do not hesitate to register.
Common Questions
What does DABA provide?
At each age, DABA provides bats, helmets, catchers equipment, hats and jerseys. Players are expected to buy their own gloves, pants, water bottles and additional protective gear (optional) such as heart guards. We highly suggest that each player wears a heart guard at all times. This can be worn under their uniform. How does DABA spend my registration fee?We purchase baseballs, pay for umpires, keep the concession stand open and purchase field equipment as necessary. We try to "break even" after the expenses so that parents are not paying any more than they have to.
How are teams selected?
We rate all players based on their skill level from 1 (advanced) to 4 (novice). We then place an equal amount of skill levels on each team in order for the novice kids to learn from those that are better than them. Requests to play with specific kids or for a specific coach may not be possible due to the desire to make all of our teams "equal" in skill level at each age group.
How many games will be played?
During the Spring season, 15 - 20 games will be played between May and July (including playoffs).
During the Fall season, between 10 - 15 games will be played between September and October.
How many practices are there each week?
Each head coach determines the number and length of their practices. Practice times and locations may vary from week to week. Generally, 1-2 practices are conducted each week after the season begins.
How can I help?
Plenty of volunteer opportunities exist during the season. You can sign up to work the concession stand, help coach a team, be a bench mom or help setup the field in the beginning of each season. Visit here to signup for these opportunities. Kids who need to earn service hours can work at the concession stand or umpire a youth game. All DABA coaches are required to attain criminal background checks and child abuse checks from the State of Pennsylvania.
